State Fair
We had a blast at the fair. Cody, Caleb, and Dylan rode LOTS of rides. I think their favorites were the bumper cars, swings, and the haunted houses. Travis and I ate LOTS. Fiske fries and elephant ears were among our healthy choices! Lacey was an angel the entire time. Big thanks and Kudos to the police officers who gave me a private room at the first aid station to nurse Lacey. I was really impressed. No bottles for this baby!

Comments
My genius (it's true, he is a genius) husband informed me that only registered Bloggers could comment. I've removed that function for a while so that everyone can comment. We will see how it goes. SO - stop being a lurker and leave a comment!
3 months
Lacey is three months old. Time is flying. I've been taking lots of photos in my garage photo studio. FUN!!! I'm enjoying being a mother of a girl - lots of dresses and barrettes for this little one. I'm very protective of my sweet baby. You won't see me passing her around too much. It makes me insane when someone else is holding her and they won't give her to me when she's crying. I know what my baby needs! She needs her Mama! I love my attached little nursling!

Report Cards
1st nine weeks:
Dylan - They don't give grades in kdg., but he did very well and "consistently demonstarted" all his kdg. requirements!!
Caleb - Straight "A's" with a 99 in math!!
Cody - All "B's" and one "A" in Science!! Whohoo!
We avoided "C's" for another nine weeks. We are very proud of our honor roll boys!

Lacey's Room
Just a few photos of Lacey's room as we completely "girlie" it! Daddy is doing a great job! The bottom half of the wall will be white beadboard. I hope Lacey likes pink! We have to get more shelving for the closet as well. Lacey already has quite a wardrobe.
Critters
Cody, Caleb, and Dylan love to find bugs and other assorted critters in the yard. I recently discovered blueprints for a squirrel catcher and plans on how to make a squirrel a pet. Today they managed to catch a lizard and create him a home in a tool box. They also caught a plump, green caterpiller -- ewww. I got suspicious when Dylan asked if Caterpillers liked to eat cookies. I'm glad they are having so much fun in our own backyard!

For Shanay...
Shanay was one of my seventh grade students at Summit Pkwy. Middle last year. Okay, she was my pet, what can I say?? She is a wonderful young lady that I had the honor to teach. She surprised me with this outfit for Lacey and a beautiful homemade card with all my homeroom students' signatures. Here's the outfit Shanay. We love it! Lacey gets lots of compliments whenever she wears it. It's a nice change from so much pink. Thank you again.
6 Weeks Old
I always have my babies' photos taken at 6 weeks. Though it seems like we just brought her home, Lacey was 6 weeks old on August 24. I went and bought her a beautiful, frilly, puffy, pink dress - that lasted about five minutes. She was so fussy that we decided to try "diaper shots." Needless to say, she as very happy naked. Most of her portraits involve very little clothing. I guess this is okay at 6 weeks - maybe we will get the frilly dress in next time! Then there was the hair. Geesh. The photographer thought it was funny - I didn't. I wet her hair and we would watch it dry and stick right back up. All the props were wet from my spray bottle and I don't have a single tame hair picture. Oh well, she is adorable anyway!

My thoughts for today...
I told myself this would happen before Lacey was even born, and I was right. I knew that the entire Peake side of the family would swear that Lacey looked just like Cody. Even though she has a different mother and is a girl, she would still look just like Cody because she is Travis’s daughter. My side of the family, of course, would say she looked like me. The head full of dark hair solidified this because I had a head full of dark hair as an infant as well. Let me just say, for the record, Lacey looks like Lacey. That’s it. She is the only Travis/Christy child on this earth and will probably be the only one. We wanted a child, an “us” and we have this in little Lacey. Yes, I do see Travis in her; and this makes me so happy. After all, I do love her daddy!!! I see me too. But no, I don’t see Cody, Caleb, or Dylan. I don’t think we should choose one child for her to “resemble” and leave out everyone else. Lacey looks like her mama and daddy, as she should. We are so blessed to have this beautiful little girl!

Scrapbooking
As most of you know, scrapbooking is a big deal to me. It's what I LOVE to do. I haven't had much scrapping time lately, but I hope to be a little more proficient as Lacey gets a bit older. I thought I would post some of my favorite pages in my blog. My Scrapbook Resume link is located on the right.

Another photo of our beautiful baby girl. She's ready for bedtime in this photo - otherwise she would be decked out in pink!!
We are really enjoying Lacey. When she starts smiling more and laughing, she will be all the entertainment we need!

First Day of School
Well, we had a car load to drop off this morning, August 8, 2006. I'm so glad everyone was all smiles and excited. No tears, no whining, just three very excited fellas. Dylan is in kindergarten, Caleb is in the second grade and Cody is in the fifth. We have one child on each hall at Blaney Elementary. Amazingly enough, there was no whining about getting up or anything! I will say that this, summer really flew by, and I feel a bit guilty that we didn't take a vacation. This summer was about preparing for Lacey. Next summer will be a blast. I hope this school year continues to go well and that all my boys have straight A's again this year!!

New Additions
Okay, this is quickly becoming a Lacey
dominated blog - but I can't stop taking pictures! She looks different every single day and I don't want to mis anything. The boys think she is the cutest thing ever. They love for her to hold on to their fingers. Seems like most of the day I'm sitting in our bedroom nursing. When she's bigger and running around the house, the boys will really have a good time with her.
We are also getting a new addition of a different sort! We are adding a bedroom and bathroom to the house. We will move Caleb and Dylan into the new room and make a super girlified room for Lacey in Caleb and Dylan's old room. Caleb is so excited. He told me he thought it was cool that he was getting a "master suite." hehe

Our Sweet Lacey...
I can't believe she is finally here. After so many months of wondering what she would look like, she is more beautiful than I ever could have imagined. She has a head full of silky, soft hair, tiny little cupid lips and a sweet button nose. She's such a good baby. She is the PERFECT little nursling. She slept for four hours straight last night -- whohooo! I love her so much and I'm so thankful Heavenly Father sent her to us to love. She completes our family.

Just One Year....
On July 13, 2005 Travis and I were sealed in the Columbia, SC temple. Exactly one year later, July 13, 2006, Lacey will join our family. It's hard to believe that a year has already gone by and even harder to belive that it's already time for Lacey's arrival. I think I planned a pretty darn good anniversary gift for Travis. I doubt that in all our future anniversaries we will ever be able to top having a brand new baby. We are very excited. I am anxious to be finished being pregnant. We have been very blessed this year and I am very thankful.

Testosterone?
Yes, I live in a house full of the male species. This particular night they all decided to surprise me with instant facial hair. Lacey and I have our work cut our for us!

ALL cheeks!
Will you look at this child! She's already over 6 pounds. I'm having trouble with way too much amniotic fluid so I look like a whale and feel really miserable. We still have about four weeks to go. I can't belive those chubby cheeks - maybe she's storing up for the winter??
The boys are so excited. They can sense the time is winding down; probably becasue I can't bend over and pick up anything at all. Caleb just got the laundry out of the dryer for me, "so you won't hurt baby Lacey." My bestest friend is giving me a baby shower tonight, I'm very excited. This is my last little baby so I'm trying to savor all the fun stuff.

32 Weeks
The date is set, July 13, 2006. Lacey will be born on our one year anniversary! I'm so tired and so very ready. Construction on our house addition should start soon - it's a good thing too. With several baby showers coming up, we will have nowhere to put all the fun, new baby stuff!
We are still sticking with the name, "Lacey." Middle name front runners are, "Ruth," or "Nichole." I get to have another ultrasound tomorrow and I can't wait to see how much bigger she is. She already has chubby cheeks and hair! The 3D video we have of her is amazing! I still can't believe we are so close to welcoming our baby girl to the world. A wedding dress one year, and sweet baby girl clothes the next....

3 Boys + baseball = B U S Y
Dylan - new to tee-ball, seems excited but is still oblivious to what is happening. LOVES his new glove and cleats! Caleb - baseball FANATIC! Loves every minute. He hit a double last game and is still beaming. Yes, I am a bragging mother, but he is AWESOME. We celebrated his seventh birthday on April 12 with a baseball party. Cody - Also new to the game. He always tries to hustle and never complains. Christy - I look like I'm going camping every game. Several camp chairs, water bottles and at least two cameras. I LOVE to watch my boys. Travis - Always supportive, though would love one night a week to get to come home from work and relax! This rarely happens during baseball season. Bottom line - we love the game; each in our own way! I may consider letting Lacey play when she's four, as long as we can find pink cleats and a pink glove, :-)

The Birth of a Blog...
Okay, so there aren't really a half dozen of us yet, but there will be in mid July with the arrival of Lacey. Everyone keeps asking are we "ready." Well, there is no nursery yet because we have to turn our Florida room into a bedroom/bathroom for Caleb and Dylan. Then Lacey will get their old room. We have no crib, no sheets, no diapers, but am I ready? YES. I can't wait to meet my daughter. I figure if I can round up a bassinet in the next couple of weeks I'll be satisfied! I don't imagine I'll be putting her down very much anyway!
